Llívia is a small village in the Eastern Pyrenees, completely surrounded by French territory, made up of stone streets and slate roofs. It is in a narrow valley, between mountains that almost reach 3000 meters high. Among the most interesting places to visit are:

Castillo antiguo

The ruins of an ancient castle

Llívia Castle was the main fortification of Cerdanya in the 14th and 15th centuries. In 1478, after a fourteen-month siege, it was taken and destroyed by the French king Louis XI to prevent future rebellions.

Where is Llívia?

Llívia is a small Spanish municipality located in the province of Gerona, Catalonia, although curiously it is completely surrounded by French territory. Located in the Baja Cerdanya region, Llívia is a historical enclave.

At 1,223 metres above sea level and with impressive views of the Pyrenees, Llívia is surrounded by green meadows and has a historic centre full of charm.

With a population of just over 1,500, this picturesque place offers a special charm for visitors looking to enjoy tranquility and history.

How to get to Llívia

The best way to get to Llívia from Barcelona is to take the C-16, passing through Terrassa, Manresa and Berga, until you reach Riu de Cerdanya. From there, follow the C-162 towards Puigcerdá and, once in Puigcerdá, signs will guide you to Llívia.

Other options include the N-152, which passes through Vic, Ripoll and Collada de Toses, or from Girona via the C-150. From Lleida, it can be reached via the C-1313 and the N-260. There are also accesses from Perpignan, Toulouse and Andorra.

It is also possible to reach Llívia by bus or train. The train goes as far as Puigcerdà, where you can take a bus that will take you directly to the village.
