Below, we present the essential sites that you cannot miss.

Iglesia de San Félix

Church of St. Felix

Of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles, it still has its original bell tower and a 17th-century Baroque façade. Its historical archive includes a sketch by Gaudí that was never built.

Cal Marqués

Cal Marques

Neoclassical mansion built in 1870 by Camil Fabra and Fontanills. It was home to key figures in the history of Alella. Its octagonal tower and details such as its Corinthian columns are noteworthy.

Masía Can Magarola

Can Magarola Farmhouse

It is one of the oldest farmhouses in Alella, dating back to the 13th century and is linked to the local wine. Its museum closed in 2004, but it remains a prominent cultural symbol of the area.

History of Alella

The history of Alella begins thousands of years ago, back in the Neolithic period, around 1500 BC, when the first humans arrived in this corner. Over time, the Celts and then the Iberians passed through here, who came into contact with the Greeks and Carthaginians.

But it was in Roman times that Alella began to shine. At that time, there were many Roman villas in the area, which shows that it was a prosperous place, with land dedicated to farming and a legacy that, in some way, is still present today.

In the Middle Ages, Alella was closely linked to the parish of Sant Feliu and depended on the Counts of Barcelona. Its name already appears in documents from the 10th century, which shows that it was already important at that time.

Historia de Alella
Historia de Alella

Over the years, the town grew and experienced key moments, such as when the crown sold its rights or when its neighbors fought to maintain their independence.

The 19th century brought many changes to Alella, with the Napoleonic Wars and the political movements of the time. In the 20th century, the town experienced important moments, such as the construction of the Fabra Schools in 1934, thanks to the support of the Marquis of Alella.

Although the Civil War left its mark, Alella managed to move forward, improving its connections and keeping alive traditions such as the Harvest Festival and the Aplec del Arròs, which remain part of its identity today.

Alella is a place where the past and present blend perfectly, making its history something special for those who visit it.
