Puigcerdà is located in the Catalan Pyrenees, and is the capital of the beautiful region of Cerdanya. It is worth a weekend getaway because if you are like us, who enjoy outdoor activities and good food, you are in the right place. Hello! I'm Olga and together with my partner Màrius we are founders and managers of Escape the town. We create games in different towns and cities, and thanks to this we travel a lot! That's why we tell you the most interesting things about each place. Puigcerdà is located in the Catalan Pyrenees, and is the capital of the beautiful region of Cerdanya. It is worth a weekend getaway because if you are like us, who enjoy outdoor activities and good food, you are in the right place. This town crowns a hill, and its surroundings are beautiful. A quiet place to enjoy good walks. This town is very special to us. We have lived there for a few years and we have a very strong bond. We have forged a relationship here, and it is where we will have a virtual reality escape room business. Adventures that have led us to create Escape the town. And Puigcerdà was the first town where we created the experience. Its history included sieges and one of its churches was demolished during the civil war, leaving only the bell tower, which has become an iconic image of the town, to be pushed. It is the game that most people have played so far, and we are very happy with how the experience has turned out. In addition, this town has the attraction of its outdoors and that is why here we show you what to do in Puigcerdà on these wonderful sunny days that the inhabitants of this area almost always enjoy, in fact, this valley is considered the sunniest in Europe! These excursions are an activity to do with children in Puigcerdà, as they are less than 15 kilometres long and are designed for a morning of activity. So if you are staying in accommodation in Puigcerdà, don't think twice and choose your favourite route, as they all have their starting point close to here. Easy walk following the irrigation ditch that fills the Puigcerdà lake, passing through Enveitg (France) and along the side of the “Transpirenenc” train track. Walk along secondary roads with little traffic, passing by the old road to La Seu, the Torre del Remei and the village of Talltorta. A walk through the Cerdanya plain, along quiet secondary roads and entering France to pass through Bourg-Madame. A hike that goes to Llívia, a Catalan enclave within France, combining secondary roads, forest tracks and trails, passing through the pretty villages of Bourg-Madame, Onzès and Ur. Walking along the sunny side of the Cerdanya valley, entering France to pass through Poblet de Yravals, following a stretch of road to then take forest tracks that lead to Guils, Saneja and Sant Martí d'Aravó. These routes are designed for non-experts, they are basic level so following the wikiloc track you will not have any problems. If you want to go a step further and do more difficult routes, we recommend hiring a professional guide. And if you are interested in playing a puzzle experience in the streets of Puigcerdà, here is more information about Escape the Town. Enjoy!
