If you're looking for what to see in Alcudia, you've come to the right place. This charming city in Mallorca, with its medieval history and paradisiacal beaches, is an ideal destination. Below, we show you the places you can't miss on your visit to Alcudia.
Walls of Alcudia
The medieval walls of Alcudia are a jewel of Mallorca's history and, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful corners of the island. They were built at the end of the 13th century, during the reign of Jaume II, with the aim of protecting the city from pirate attacks. These impressive walls, six metres high, completely surround the old town for 1.5 kilometres and have been considered a historical monument since 1964.
You can access the wall through the Porta de Santa Sebastià or the Porta del Moll, where it is possible to climb and walk around part of the structure. From the top, the views are spectacular: to the north, the Bay of Pollença; to the south, the Bay of Alcudia; and inland, the Serra de Tramontana mountains. Some remains of the old city moat are still preserved, and near the Porta de Sebastià is the Roman site of Ciutat de Pollentia, which makes it clear that Alcudia has always been a strategic point since ancient times.
Walking along the walls is not only a walk through history, but also a unique way to discover the old town from another perspective. In one of the old bastions there is a small bullring, which is nowadays used for flamenco shows and open-air concerts in summer. And if you visit Alcudia on a Tuesday or Sunday morning, you will come across its local market, which fills the streets with life with stalls selling food, clothes and crafts, making it an authentic and charming experience.
Old Town
The part of the town located within the walls is known as the old town and is one of the most visited places in the north of Mallorca. It is located in the centre of the town, less than 2 km from Puerto de Alcudia, making it an easily accessible place.
This place offers numerous sights to enjoy a great day while learning about the local history and culture. On its cobbled streets, you can admire buildings of great architectural and historical value, as well as the typical Mallorcan houses with their characteristic facades and large entrances decorated with colorful flowers.
The old town also has a wide variety of shops and restaurants where you can sample the exquisite local cuisine in a charming atmosphere. Whether strolling through its streets or enjoying an elegant meal, visiting Alcudia's old town is an unforgettable experience.
Church of Sant Jaume
The church of Sant Jaume de Alcudia is over 700 years old and is one of the most important historical buildings in the north of Mallorca. Its imposing neo-Gothic style and magnificent rose window transport visitors to another era.
Jaume II ordered its construction in 1302 as part of the medieval complex of Alcudia, and today it remains an emblematic monument. Its sandstone masonry façade stands out for its two portals and the pedestal with the image of Santiago, a work of the sculptor Remigia Caubet. In addition, the pointed arch with the rose window at the top allows natural light to enter, creating a unique atmosphere inside.
The temple has eight chapels in total: five on the left and three on the right. Inside the church, there is a parish museum that houses paintings, sculptures, religious ornaments, vestments and objects of worship, making it a place of great interest for lovers of sacred art.
Our recommendation is to combine the visit to the church with a tour of the nearby Roman town of Pollentia. Afterwards, there is nothing better than relaxing on a terrace in the old town and enjoying dinner in one of its traditional restaurants.

Ruins of Pollentia
The ruins of Pollentia are one of the main historical attractions of Alcudia. Founded in 123 BC after the Roman conquest of Mallorca, Pollentia became the most important city on the island during the 1st century BC and 3rd century AD. Its grid-like urban layout and advanced infrastructure, which included a drinking water and sewage system, show the great development of the city. Among the main points of interest are the Forum, the residential area of Portella, and the Roman Theatre, which is still used for cultural events such as the Agosto a la Fresca programme.
The Roman Theatre of Pollentia is one of the most outstanding elements of the site. Dug into the rock, it preserves much of its structure, including the cavea, the orchestra and the stage. During the summer months, the theatre revives its ancient splendour as a venue for cultural activities. In addition, in the Forum area you can see remains of temples, taverns and a necropolis, which allow you to better understand the urban organisation of the Roman city. The ruins of Pollentia offer a unique experience for lovers of history and archaeology.
Alcudia Beach
Alcudia Beach is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Mallorca, located in the north of the island, just a few kilometres from Port d'Alcudia and next to the historic medieval town of Alcudia. With almost 3.5 km in length, this extensive white sand beach is ideal for all types of visitors. Awarded with the blue flag, it is distinguished by its cleanliness, sustainability and crystal-clear waters. It is particularly suitable for families thanks to its excellent facilities, which include showers, toilets, changing rooms and a children's play area. In addition, numerous water sports can be enjoyed, such as kayaking, SUP and pedal boats.
The beach is surrounded by a long promenade, lined with shops, restaurants and accommodation, which give it a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Although it is not a party beach, some bars and restaurants remain open at night. In the area near Port d'Alcudia, the beach is usually busier, with various activities and services, while towards the south, near Playa de Muro, it becomes quieter. Its large extension ensures that, even in the middle of summer, you can always find a perfect corner to relax.
