Ainsa history
Aínsa began as a medieval town, with a castle and walls protecting its streets. Between the 14th and 15th centuries, it expanded by integrating the castle with the square and adding a second defensive enclosure.
In the year 724, according to legend, the Cross of Sobrarbe appeared in Aínsa during the Christian reconquest, which is celebrated in the festival of "La Morisma". Aínsa grew thanks to the royal privileges it received, becoming the main town of Sobrarbe.
Aínsa went through a difficult period in the 17th and 18th centuries, but it re-emerged in the 20th century. Its old town, declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1965, retains its medieval structure. Today, Aínsa-Sobrarbe includes 23 villages and combines its agricultural tradition with tourism and commerce.
Ainsa lost mountain
Monte Perdido, in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, is an incredible natural destination in the Pyrenees. The Ordesa Valley offers hiking routes such as the famous Cola de Caballo, known for its beauty and ease. You can also see the Tozal del Mallo, the Cascada del Estrecho and a wide variety of animals such as vultures and bearded vultures.
Near Monte Perdido, the Añisclo Canyon and the Pineta Valley offer quiet, less crowded landscapes. These places allow you to enjoy nature in a more relaxed way, surrounded by the majestic mountains of the park.
